The Xiaomi Mi Max's rear 16-megapixel camera takes pretty good shots, but colors can be a bit over-saturated. The original subject's colors were not as vibrant.
Indoor shots with slightly dimmer lighting also posed no problems for the camera, though expect some noise.
The camera struggles with outdoor lighting when HDR is turned off, and because the phone doesn't have Auto HDR, you'll have to manually turn in on if you're shooting outside.
With HDR turned on, the image is a lot clearer and the parts that were originally in shadow are now clear.
Again, you'll find that the camera tends to oversaturate the image, especially the reds of the Coca Cola bottles.
The 5-megapixel front selfie has built-in beautification features. I don't think I've ever looked that good.
