Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime makes its move (pictures)

This pretty, pearlescent budget phone brings you a 5-inch screen and 8-megapixel camera.

Grade-A Prime?

Originally released in September 2014, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime makes its US debut with AT&T-owned prepaid network Cricket Wireless.

Pretty in pearlescent

The Prime comes in one color, white, which looks attractively creamy and somewhat iridescent.

5-inch screen

I like the larger 5-inch display, but resolution is terribly low, which contributes to some grainy, pixelated video-viewing.

Cameras

The 8-megapixel rear camera is pretty good for a budget phone, and the 5-megapixel shooter up front is quite generous.

Hardware guts

Performance is fine, but not stellar on the 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Download speeds were on the slower side, too.

Extra storage

Three cheers for microSD card slots! You can boost your 8GB internal storage with up to 64GB more.

Taking it with you

Although not tremendously slim, the Galaxy Grand Prime isn't overly heavy or thick.
