Apple's iPad tablets tend to be quite expensive -- something as relatively budget-friendly as the ninth-gen iPad will run you almost $300, even with the best iPad deals you can find. Instead, if you want something more budget-oriented, Amazon's Fire tablets are the way to go -- and right now there are several early Prime Day dales on them, dropping prices as low as $40

If you're looking for the most budget-friendly tablet you can find, that's probably going to be the Amazon Fire 7 tablet, which is currently being discounted to $40 from $60. The Fire 7 has a 7-inch screen and runs a 1,024x600-pixel resolution at 171 ppi, which is perfect for that small size. It also has 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM, which are certainly pretty frugal. Even so, they're great for the price tag and good for simple day-to-day tasks, such as watching videos, and with up to 10 hours of battery or so, you can do a lot of that before needing a charge.

Alternatively, if you want something more midrange, the Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet has a 10-inch screen and runs a higher-quality 1,920x1,200-pixel resolution. RAM is upgraded to 3GB, and you get either 32GB or 64GB of storage. The 64GB model has the more significant discount, down to $90 from $190, but you could always get the 32GB and snag a microSD card deal to go with it and expand the space anyway. There's also the much more powerful Amazon Fire Max 11 tablet with a massive 11-inch screen, 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM for you to work with, and it's going for $150 rather than $230.

There are kid-friendly versions of all the tablets listed here too, which come with colorful protective cases to help avoid anything breaking, although Amazon will replace it for you if it does, which is a great offer. The budget-friendly Fire 7 Kids Tablet is half off at $55, while the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids has been discounted down to $75 instead of $150. You can also get them the higher-end Fire HD 10 Kids Pro, although that one is pricier at $120 (down from $200).
