Anthony Mackie has locked down a deal to star in a fourth installment of Marvel's Captain America franchise, Deadline reported on Wednesday. Mackie assumed the mantle of Captain America in Disney Plus' Falcon and Winter Soldier.

Disney, which owns Marvel, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mackie has appeared in five Marvel movies since his debut in Captain America: Age of Ultron in 2015. He follows Chis Evans, who played Captain America in three standalone movies (as well as others in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) beginning in 2011, and passed off his shield in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

In April, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Captain America 4 will be written by Malcom Spellman and Dalan Musson, both of whom worked on Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Spellman being the show's head writer and creator.
