Roxio Toast Titianium CD key error follow-up We have updated Friday's item to reflect what a number of readers told us over the weekend: that the fix did not work for them.

Fix for VirtualPC 5.0.1 updater problems Connectix has posted a new AppleScript on their VPC support download page that fixes a few problems with their recent VPC 5.0.1 updater. A reader writes: "I had previously run the updater in OS X and had problems with my administrator password not being accepted by the update, and then I received an error that 'virtual switch networking could not be initialized' (which prevented Internet access via VPC). After running the script and re-starting VPC, the problem seems to be fixed."

APC Shutdown manager locked by default Noah Rosenstein writes: "APC has released APC Powerchute 1.2b1, an OS X version of their Shutdown Manager software for the Back-UPS Pro USB and Back-UPS CS models only. Install went fine and all seemed okay except that the preference pane locks itself. Unlocking it seems to last until you log out or restart the system." This may very well be as the developer intended.
