Watch the first Titans trailer hold nothing back at Comic-Con 2018
Get your first look at DC's latest Teen Titans adaptation, coming exclusively to its streaming platform.
Starfire's about to melt some criminals.
As hype built in advance of San Diego Comic-Con 2018, DC was pitching Titans, its live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans comics, as a darker and more adult take on its younger heroes. That much is true from the moment the first trailer begins, with a stark TV-MA warning immediately letting you know that Robin, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy aren't exactly going to be innocent youths in this upcoming series.
Depicting the roll-call of the Titans team, the trailer for the TV series starts off with Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), also known as Batman's sidekick Robin. He's in a back and forth with Raven (Teagan Croft) amid a dream-like flashback to the tragic deaths of Grayson's parents.

From there, we see Grayson visibly struggling with his mantle as Robin, while still managing to violently dispatch some criminals in a manner more commonly associated with Batman than the Boy Wonder.
And if you thought Batman and Robin were still a dynamic duo, well, you've never heard Robin say "F*** Batman," in a trailer before, have you?
So yes, there's blood, profanity and violent slow-mo. The trailer does say it's "time for inner demons to come out and play" after all, DC wasn't kidding about the grittiness.
We also get brief glimpses of Starfire (Anna Diop) using her powers and come this close to Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) showcasing his animal transformation abilities. We also see Dove (Minka Kelly), a crime fighter who's occasionally been a Teen Titan in the comics but wasn't a member in the popular animated series, in a particularly brutal example of how much Titans is distancing itself from that animated series and its slapstick successor Teen Titans Go!
Titans, which doesn't yet have a release date, will be available exclusively on the DC Universe streaming platform. DC Universe is planned to launch this fall for $7.99 monthly, and will be available on iOS, Android devices as well as an array of TV streamers.
