• Great player!

  Pros

  A lot! I like the way it plays my .MTS movies, my commercial DVDs, and my music CD-Rs. Also I like the true full screen. I am sure it will play my home movie DVD-RWs (not ready to try yet).

  Cons

  None for me with the viewer part, but I only used the viewer part so far.

  Summary

  I gave another 5 stars, but that was before I found out it would not play my CD-Rs of recorded songs. THIS IS A FIVE STAR VIEWER! I played everything I had .MTS, DVDs, and CD=Rs. I am sure it will play my DVD-RWs when I complete them. Based on how well the viewer works, I bet the other features work well.

  The very basic user interface does not slows down low hardware PC for playing video (as long as graphic driver properly installed). Customizable keyboard shortcut No fuss for media codec anymore, and its codecs can be used for other media player

  Cons

  No rewind feature (there is rewind, per frame but not like real rewinds)

  Summary

  Very efficient media player for basic purposes and not embarassing to use it in presentation or home cinema.

  Plays multiple files even with different extensions .mpg, .asf .wmv in sequence with no crashes..VLC crashed everytime I tried this Light &#38; quick meets basic needs with speed and efficiency

  It's free, no nags to upgrade to a "pro" version, and it doesn't install crapware or adware. Simple appearance. No useless flash or bling. Easy to set file associations and explorer context menu. It'll play just about anything - audio and video file types you never heard of. - and it's a full-fledged software DVD player. Also plays unencrypted Blu-Rays. All kinds of options - several renderers available. Extremely lightweight. Installation not required. Get it in the archive package, unarchive to wherever you like, and run it from there. Constantly under active development.

  Cons

  Simple appearance. This is a con only if you're an eye-candy fan. I'm not. Clunky file menu, but you really don't need it.

  Summary

  Simple, powerful, and lightweight. Download the MadVR renderer - which is completely free, and your movies will never look better.

  Pros

  Free as in zero cost. No invitations to install other softwares. Frequent and hasle-free updating. The interface is simple and effective, I could not care less about "eye candy", but to have a decent and fluid media player. The incredible variety of formats that can be played put to shame Windows Media Player and many other softwares that I know. I tried them all and continue with this one with full satisfaction.

  Cons

  It may not be the best to earn the ultimate half star. I do not agree with the negative remarks by the Download.com review.

  Summary

  If you want a honest Windows freebie that is highly functional and reliable, I would bet you would end like me: discarding all others and ignoring WMP.
