  I have split hundreds of songs from single file complete albums without a single problem. (I use the paid version) I run this program on Linux using wine and on Windows 7. Very happy with this product!

• Could Not Have Worked Better

  - Did exactly what it advertised, lets you take a section from an mp3 file and turn it into its own mp3 file - Worked excellently on the files I cropped (YouTube mp3 rips) - No Add-ware or hijacks (Avast, Chrome) - Great UI

  - Cannot merge mp3 files or combine multiple different sections from the same file - Both the save and open file windows share the last known location in file explorer, which is annoying if you are trying to maintain backups - Similarly, adds "- part" to the end of the save as file name as a default, more an annoyance than a con

  I shared none of the problems of the other uses, my mp3 files got smaller and the bit-rate remained unchanged, I would definitely recommend this software (Win 10, Chrome, Avast)

• Finally, an audio cutter that works with Windows 8!

  Pros

  This is the 5th program I've downloaded and tried today, and the only one that worked as advertised with Windows 8. Easy to use, bars that move to where you want to begin and end, but also, timers that are very accurate to gauge where exactly to start and stop. The finished product sounded just as clear as the original also.

  I didn't find any, for once.

  Summary

  Others complained of malware but I found none. Maybe they've eliminated that since the earlier reviews were written. I've had a hard time finding a program that was accurate and worked with Windows 8, but this did so, thank heaven. I was ready to scrap the entire project after downloading and uninstalling numerous programs that didn't work or that would not install without serious malware that one couldn't escape. This worked great for me!

  It wants me to download a newer version of Windows Media Player.

  Summary

  It wants me to download a newer version of Windows Media Player in order to work. Why would I want to download WMP when WMP don't work on my pc? The description says nothing about needing a WMP update in order to work. I have downloaded 6 programs so far and not one has yet to cut a one hour peace of mp3 track I have. Worthless.

• Ads on a bunch of unwanted ad-ware

  The program ad on a bunch of unwanted ad-ware to your computer when it is installed. This junk is added on even though I deselected the options of adding any else but the program when I installed it. It changed my search engine and added it's installed search engine to my browser toolbar. Now I also have a bunch of unwanted ads popping up. Even though I uninstalled the program all the garbage that program installed on my computer remains. DON"T INSTALL THIS PROGRAM!!!

• Resulting File 80% Bigger!

  -The file created is way way bigger than the orignial!? -Loads junk on your computer and takes over your browser even if you deselect those choices. Shame on you Cnet!

  Summary

  First off, my browser was hijacked after installing it. There are choices to load toolbars and Home Page re-directors, of which I deselected all of them. I had to do this a number of times and the font was really really small. It loaded 3 different programs on my computer, other than the MP3 Cutter, closed browser, and my Firefox thought is was loading on my machine for the first time when I restarted it. I uninstalled all of it and got it from another site. That site tried to install it's hijacking stuff, too, but deselecting there did prevent it from being installed. Also, when I uninstalled it the first time, it left 2 files in a folder with it's name. The program works fine and quickly and I actually liked it's efficiency and ease of use. However, reducing the size of 30-50 MB files was my purpose, since there were 10 to 30 minutes of silence on them - I was converting lectures from cassette to MP3. Unfortunately, the resulting files were 75% or more larger than the original! I saw someone mention in a comment that the bit rate was 227kbps! Mine were recorded in 64. There is no way to change this in the program, so if your like me and are cutting just a voice file, then this is no good.
